キャップに求められる機能性は日光を遮断すること、そして快適な通気性を確保すること。
従来のメッシュキャップでは通気性を確保はできますが、日光を遮断することは難しく、この相反する要素を両立させることは、ランナーにとって長年必要とされる機能でした。
X-サンライトプルーフトレイルキャップは、異なる２層のメッシュ構造により（１層目のメッシュは頭の蒸れを和らげる通気性を確保し、２層目のメッシュは遮熱、紫外線をブロックします。）通気性と遮光性を高い次元で実現させています。
